Set it up once. Then it’s a tap away.

Three steps to reach your own computer, the two ways a computer can let people in, and what happens when your signal drops.

Setting up

  1. Install Veolan on both devices

Put Veolan on the computer you want to reach and on the phone, tablet or computer you’ll reach it from. The computer shows an invite. Scan it with your phone, or paste it.

  2. Trust your phone, once

The first time your phone connects, the computer asks. Allow it and tick Trust this device. The computer confirms it’s you with Touch ID, Windows Hello or your password, on the computer itself.

  3. Open it from anywhere

Tap the computer in your devices. Your phone asks for your fingerprint or PIN, and the screen opens. Nobody needs to be at the computer.

Unattended, or asks first

Each computer decides who gets in without asking. Set it to Unattended for my devices, and the devices you’ve trusted connect straight away while everyone else is still asked.

Set it to Ask each time, and someone at the computer approves every session. Off means nobody can connect at all.

Try the setting:

Remote access

Nobody can connect to this device.

Someone at this device approves every session. Requests time out after 30 seconds.

Devices you trust connect without anyone here to approve. Everyone else is still asked. The red bar and Stop still show during every session.

Picks up where you left off

Drive into a tunnel or walk out of Wi-Fi range, and the session comes back on its own, without anyone allowing it again. A session someone allowed can come back within 15 minutes. Your own trusted devices always can.

Moving from Wi-Fi to mobile data usually goes unnoticed: the connection carries on over the new network.

Ready when the apps are.

Veolan is in early access. Create your account now, and set up your devices as soon as the apps are out.
